LOTTIE LONDON’S GUIDE TO NAIL SHAPE

The shape of your nails can drastically change the finish of your mani and with so many options, it’s sometimes hard to know which one to choose! Here at Lottie London, we’ve done all the hard work for you and explained the most popular shapes of 2015!
Square
Simple and short, this style of nail is classic and timeless. The top of the nail should be completely flat and the walls of the nail should come straight out from the nail bed.
Although this is probably the strongest nail shape, be careful of sharp edges that can scratch of snag things. Top Tip: Don’t choose this shape if you have short and wide
nail beds.
Square Oval/Squoval
Similar to the square nail shape but with rounded corners. This is the most practical/ popular shape because it is both universally flattering and versatile.
Rounded
The rounded nail shape follows the natural curve of the nail bed and is softened so there are no corners. This shape is most flattering on short nails.
Oval
This shape is rounded at the tip and all the way to the nail walls. The nail walls should still come out straight from the nail bed but should taper slightly, to smoothly meet
the curve of the tips. Oval nails look prettiest on wider nails.
Almond
Almond nails are tapered at the walls to end in a rounded point. Top Tip: This shape needs strong, long nails so make sure you use Lottie London So Gel Top Coat to
reinforce!
Ballerina/Coffin
Ballerina and coffin nails are all the rage at the moment, worn by everyone from Kylie Jenner to Rihanna. They are tapered at the walls and end in a flattened point. Like
almond nails, this shape needs strong and long nails to work because the tapered walls take away from the nails natural support.
Stiletto
Stiletto nails are fun and dramatic, tapering inwards and ending in a sharp point. This shape is mostly achieved with gel or acrylic extensions as they are prone to breakage and snagging. Stiletto nails look best with long nails as they can help to make hands look longer.
