Privacy Policy

How we handle your data, what cookies we use, and exactly how we make money from this site. Last updated 20 August 2026.

1. Information we collect

We collect as little personal information as we can while still running the site. Specifically:

Information you give us

  • Contact form submissions — your name, email address, chosen topic and the content of your message, when you choose to send one.
  • Correspondence — any emails you send us directly, retained so we can follow up.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — pages viewed, time on page, referring site, approximate location (country or city level), and how you navigate the site.
  • Device data — browser type and version, operating system, screen size and language settings.
  • Network data — your IP address, which our analytics providers may truncate or anonymise.

We do not collect payment details. We never see your card information, because all purchases happen on Amazon, not here.

2. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • Respond to messages you send us through the contact form or by email.
  • Understand which reviews and pages are useful so we can improve them.
  • Diagnose technical problems and keep the site secure and available.
  • Measure the performance of affiliate links and advertising in aggregate.
  • Comply with legal obligations where they apply to us.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your contact details with brands, advertisers or data brokers.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. This site and its partners use them for four purposes:

  • Essential — needed for basic page functionality. These cannot be switched off.
  • Analytics — to understand how visitors use the site in aggregate.
  • Advertising — set by Google and its partners to serve and measure ads.
  • Affiliate attribution — set by Amazon when you click a product link, so a qualifying purchase can be credited to this site.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking analytics and advertising cookies will not stop you from reading anything on this site, though some functionality may behave differently.

4. Advertising and Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertising. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.com.
  • Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site and use their own cookies, which are governed by their own privacy policies.

5. Affiliate disclosure (Amazon Associates)

Lottie London Makeup is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

In plain terms: many of the product links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and go on to buy something, we may receive a small commission from Amazon. The price you pay is exactly the same either way — the commission comes out of Amazon's margin, not your pocket.

Some things we want to be explicit about:

  • No brand pays us for a review, a score or a position in our rankings.
  • Commission rates do not influence which products we recommend or how we score them.
  • We buy the products we review ourselves; we do not accept gifted product in exchange for coverage.
  • Affiliate links are marked with rel="nofollow sponsored" in the page source, and every section containing them carries a visible disclosure.

Prices, availability and product specifications shown on this site are indicative only. Amazon's listing at the time of purchase is the authoritative source, and it is what governs your transaction.

We also display advertising through Google AdSense, as described in section 4.

6. Analytics

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with the site. Clarity captures aggregated usage and interaction data, including heatmaps and session replays, to help us find broken layouts and confusing navigation. Microsoft processes this data in accordance with its own privacy practices; see the Microsoft Privacy Statement for details.

We do not use analytics to identify individual visitors, and we do not attempt to link analytics data with contact form submissions.

7. Third parties we share with

We share limited data with the service providers that make the site work:

  • Amazon — receives a referral identifier when you click a product link, for affiliate attribution.
  • Google — for advertising delivery and measurement via AdSense.
  • Microsoft — for analytics via Clarity.
  • Our hosting provider — which processes server logs including IP addresses.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to protect our rights, safety or property.

8. How long we keep data

  • Contact form messages and email — retained for up to 24 months after our last exchange, then deleted.
  • Server logs — typically retained for up to 90 days.
  • Analytics data — retained according to the provider's own retention schedule, generally 12 months or less.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal information:

  • Access — to request a copy of what we hold about you.
  • Correction — to have inaccurate information corrected.
  • Deletion — to ask us to erase your information.
  • Objection and restriction — to object to or limit certain processing.
  • Portability — to receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell personal information, but this right applies regardless under laws such as the CCPA/CPRA.
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@lottielondonmakeup.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will never charge you for making one or treat you differently for exercising your rights.

10. Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and we limit the personal data we collect precisely so there is less to protect. That said, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, those transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes or as legal requirements evolve. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage for a reasonable period.
