HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN CHINESE LANTERNS

The year of the monkey means 2016 will be cheeky, cheerful and full of laughter. Here at Lottie HQ we can’t wait to celebrate, and what better way than to throw a Chinese new year party… as if we needed an excuse!
These DIY Chinese lanterns will be a fab decoration and lots of fun to make too!
You will need:
 - 2 Large sheets of cardstock
 - 1 roll of Yarn

Take a large sheet of cardstock and roll into a cylinder, attach together using double sided tape.
Take a second sheet of cardstock in a different colour, fold in half, and fold the top (edge on both sides for a 2cm band)
Cut strips across the folded paper, stopping at the 2cm band. Unfold, and glue the bands at both ends of the cylinders.
Grab a sharpie and right your name in Chinese letters across the band. Top Tip! Add gems for an extra glitzy lantern!
To make the yarn tassel cut strips of tissue paper into long lengths and sellotape them around a long piece of yarn.
To attach the yarn tassel, cut a hole at the top of the handle, put yarn through it until it reached the desired length hanging from the bottom of the lantern.
Tie a knot at the top of the handle so the yarn doesn’t fall through.
Hang these up; get cheeky and party into the 2nd new year of the year! #YEAROFTHEMONKEY We have bowls of glitter confetti ready to throw around and celebrate!
